The Unlimited moniker was first used to describe the longer wheel base TJ Wranglers introduced for model year 2004. This Wrangler Unlimited was unofficially dubbed the LJ and was produced in both a standard and Rubicon trim package through model year 2006 which was also the end of the TJ Jeep Wrangler generational body style.
In 2007 a new Jeep JK was introduced that featured a major body redesign, engine overhaul along with various modern upgrades. This was also offered in an Unlimited four door version which has since become extremely popular and contributed to the rise in Jeep Wrangler sales. A large portion of this is due to the four door’s accessibility and additional trunk/cargo space which has broadened the consumer audience and expanded the utilitarian use of the wrangler to better serve the following areas.
